LET’S FARM

Farming is a subset of the Agricultural Industry that implements agricultural activities. From Latin, the word Agriculture is Ager = Land & Culture = Development. Farming is the occupation of growing plants and raising livestock. The first grain farming was reported to have begun around 8,000 B.C. Today, Agricultural Farming produces the vast majority of the world’s food supply.

As a stock, Farmland is a long-term investment and serves as a safeguard against inflation. The United Nations statistical analysis predicts that the world will need to produce 60% more food by the year 2050. According to USA Today, many Billionaire investors are enhancing their portfolios by snatching-up farmland for its stability and security. Ah, if only I had some extra $$$!!!

Indubitably, I must the popular Farmer’s Almanac into this week’s Spinnerette. The Farmer’s Almanac is an American journal that annually publishes the need to know information for farmers and curious minds. It contains weather predictions, planting schedules, astronomical tables, lore, recipes, anecdotes, and overall rural interests. The Almanac was first published by Robert B. Thomas in 1792 for the upcoming year of 1793. In 1830, the word Old was added to distinguish the Almanac from forgeries. Today, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is the longest continuous publication of any American journal. This Spinnerette: LET’S FARM has made me want to pick-up one this very day.
