BEN GLOW

Ben Glow returns…

Reconnecting with an old friend is like rediscovering a book that you thought you had lost. The pages are worn, the story familiar, yet every reading unveils treasured nuances. Many years ago, I stumbled on a CHG - MTCH with 2 companies - BGNE + LOW and enjoyed deciphering the Spinnerette.Anagram as BEN GLOW. As it happens, BEN GLOW became my first crafted Spinnerette.Anagram persona which has since led to many other humorous characters.

At the time, it seemed reasonable to portray BEN GLOW after one of our nation’s esteemed wizards of words, Ben Franklin. As I explored further into the Wall Street Journal’s Top 1000 stocks and the world of wealth, it was natural that my new character BEN GLOW would became my first spokesperson to help define the GLOW of the Financial World. After all, Ben Franklin’s face dons both the United States one hundred dollar bill designed in 1929 which is still in circulation and the silver half dollar coin minted between 1948-1963.

In my opinion, money symbolizes a glittering GLOW an alluring and almost magnetic quality that wealth and financial success exude. This concept exemplifies the idea that money possesses a certain energy or aura that attracts attention, admiration, and often desire. It is not merely about the physical currency itself, but rather the status, power, and opportunities that accompany an affluent lifestyle.

Moreover, it represents the freedom to pursue passions, the ability to provide for loved ones, and the potential to make a significant impact on the world. This GLOW can manifest in various forms, from the gleam of luxury possessions to the confidence that comes from financial security.

This time, I chose to personify BEN GLOW not merely as the manifestation of one of our Founding Fathers - Benjamin Franklin who is globally recognized monetarily but also for Franklin’s Glowing legacy epitomizing his quest for Knowledge.

Benjamin Franklin, was a multifaceted figure of the 18th century. He was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Josiah Franklin, a candle and soap maker, and Abiah Folger, Josiah’s second wife. Franklin was the fifteenth of seventeen children. Despite the family’s modest means, Franklin’s parents prioritized learning which fostered his insatiable curiosity, his thirst for knowledge and his relentless pursuit for self-improvement. He began his career as an apprentice to his brother James, a printer, where he developed a keen interest for writing and journalism.

Franklin's intellect and curious nature propelled him to become a leading figure during the Enlightenment movement that emphasized reason, science, and individualism. More than likely, this transformative experience developed Franklin into a skilled diplomat who played a key role in ending the American Revolution. This was showcased during the negotiations of the Treaty of Paris in 1783 that officially ended the war and recognized America as an Independent Nation.

So, there is no surprise that his image was posthumously immortalized on the one hundred dollar bill, and the half-dollar coin symbolizing his enduring influence and the values he stood for - innovation, wisdom, and a commitment to the greater good. The choice to feature Franklin on the hundred dollar bill reflects his role as a quintessential American figure whose Enlightenment ideals continue to resonate today. The one hundred dollar bill serves as a reminder of Franklin's multifaceted legacy, inspiring generations to embrace knowledge, creativity, and civic responsibility.

Therefore, while once again researching this icon for my Blog, I felt it equally significant to breathe new life into BEN GLOW’s attachment by mirroring Franklin's dedication to the Enlightenment period. This time in history, cultivated a profound intellectual movement that emerged in the late 17th and 18th centuries championing ideals that fundamentally reshaped Western thought and society. Thinkers of this era believed in the power of human reason to understand and improve the world, advocating for the application of rational thought to all areas of life, including politics, science, and ethics.

One of the central tenets of Enlightenment thought was the belief in the inherent rights of individuals. Philosophers like John Locke argued for the concept of natural rights - life, liberty, and property asserting that these rights were universal and should be protected by governments. This notion laid the groundwork for modern democracy and human rights, influencing revolutions and political reforms across the globe.

Ultimately, my Spinnerette.Anagram BEN GLOW can serve as a contemporary avatar of Ben Franklin, bridging the past with the present and inspiring others to pursue knowledge and innovation in their own lives.

For me, the concept of the word Glow transcends mere illumination. It expresses a vibrant spirit, a radiance that emerges from within, reflecting our passions, dreams, and the heart of our being. To Glow is to shine with authenticity, to exude warmth and positivity that not only enhances our own lives but others as well. Just like Ben Franklin’s enduring legacy resonating centuries later, man’s enlightenment can still GLOW like a guiding beacon for our future selves.
